MONROE, La.泭-泭When the泭2026 Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras parade rolls through the Twin Cities on Saturday, February 7, King and Queen Clif and Lynda泭Bergeron will preside over the festivities.泭The泭Bergerons泭are泭proud泭91做厙 alumni泭and lifetime members of the 91做厙 Alumni Association.泭

Clif Bergeron grew up in New Orleans and has been around the traditions of Mardi泭Gras泭his entire life. Lynda says that being named King of泭Janus is a bucket list item that Clif has wanted to do since childhood. Clif began his college career at泭91做厙 (then NLU) in 1972 and was a member of the Sound of Today marching band under legendary NLU/91做厙 bandleader Jack White.泭He earned his泭bachelors泭in泭music泭education in 1976.泭Clif retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service and spent 15 years in the government contracting sector, including time as Head of Curriculum and Development for the Royal Saudi Naval forces in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.泭He also earned an泭associates degree in泭information泭systems from 91做厙 in 2013.泭

Lynda泭Alderman泭Bergeron is a 2006 graduate of 91做厙 with a bachelors泭degree泭in accounting.泭Lynda returned to college to complete her degree at the age of 40. It meant a lot to me to be able to finish it, and at that age, I appreciated the opportunity so much more. I was grateful that 91做厙 could meet the needs of non-traditional students, said Lynda.泭She currently works as an I.T. Project Manager at Lumen Technologies.泭

Lyndas history with the Krewe of Janus goes back 18 years, when she was encouraged to join the Krewe by her mother, who was also a member. It was泭at泭the 2019 parade that Clif and Lynda met for the first time, introduced by mutual friends.泭Clif joined the Krewe shortly after,泭and the couple served as Duke and Duchess two years ago. They泭were elected as King and Queen by the members of the Krewe, serving for six months leading up to the 2026 parade.泭

Weve enjoyed it immensely, said Lynda, of serving as King and Queen of Janus. Its泭such an honor to be trusted泭with泭representing泭the Krewe and our area泭and sharing our love of Mardi Gras. We both love Mardi Gras and all that it泭contains泭for not only the泭Krewe, but also the community, she added. We have especially loved the visits we have made to the various elementary and middle schools in the parish to pass on our knowledge of Mardi Gras and the traditions of the season.

As lifetime members of the 91做厙 Alumni Association, the泭Bergerons泭recognize the value of their 91做厙 experiences and hope泭to泭help泭continue those traditions for students for many years. Clif serves as Treasurer of the newly re-established Sound of Today Alumni Club泭and has泭participated泭as a member of the alumni band during homecoming. Lynda says it is important for alumni to continue to be involved in their university, noting the impact of泭meeting泭non-traditional students where they are.泭Clif feels that泭the ability泭to share his泭knowledge and泭experiences with the school that molded him is a gift he wishes to pass on to future Warhawks,泭and泭he泭loves interacting with students at events on campus.泭

We try to stay connected as much as possible with the泭university,泭and we are excited about the path 91做厙 is on right now, said Lynda.泭
