91°µĶų wins prestigious media awards
The University of Louisiana at Monroe has gathered an impressive array of media-related awards thus far in 2008.
At the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV conference in Little Rock, Ark., 91°µĶų garnered three awards. 91°µĶų competed against numerous other universities, including Dillard University, Sam Houston State University, the University of Oklahoma, and Louisiana State University.
In the āInstitutional Identity Programsā category, 91°µĶų won a pewter award for āAceās Adventures at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Ace Explores Campus.ā The 20-page activity book was distributedāat no costāto private and public elementary schools in 15 northeastern Louisiana parishes last year.
The book contains age-appropriate activities aligned with state standards and is supported by a Web site that includes lesson plans for teachers and innovative online activities for students. The series is produced by the 91°µĶųās Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Child Development Center, College of Education and Human Development, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Student Life and Leadership, the Office of University Relations and Graphic Services.
The university scored a bronze in the āAlumni Program, Project or Special Eventā category for Wine Over Water, a spring celebration that began three years ago. The annual event, sponsored by the 91°µĶų Alumni Association and the Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter, benefits university scholarships.
The College of Pharmacy magazine, produced by 91°µĶųās College of Pharmacy, āLe Pharmacien Louisianaisā took home a bronze in the āMagazines ā 1 to 3 colors (excluding cover)ā category.
The Admissions Marketing Report announced the winners of the 23rd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards:
The 91°µĶų Magazine, produced by 91°µĶų University Relations and Zehno Cross Media Communications, won a GOLD award in the āPublication External Schools w/ 5,000 - 9,999 Studentsā category.
Lindsey Wilkerson, director of Web Services at 91°µĶų, praised everyone involved with the universityās magazine. āWeāre proud the 91°µĶų Magazine won a GOLD award. The 91°µĶų Magazine showcases excellence across a broad spectrum of this university ā from students, academics, research, faculty, and alumni. They are the real āgold.āā
The 91°µĶų Admissions Web Feature, produced by 91°µĶų Recruitment and Admissions and Zehno Cross Media Communications, won a bronze in the āNew Media School w/ 5,000 - 9,999 Studentsā category.
Awards and certificates were given to those entrants whose programs and materials displayed āexceptional quality, creativity and message effectiveness,ā according to the Admissions Marketing Report Web site.
Also, in a separate competition:
Visix, Inc. chose 91°µĶų as the winner of its 2008 Expression Award for āBest Published AxisTV Policies,ā granting the honor āfor exceptional work in visual communications planning, creation and execution.ā
AxisTV is a closed-circuit, on-campus communication system which uses flat-screen plasma monitors to broadcast important information to 91°µĶų students, faculty, and staff. Displays are located at various points around campus. AxisTv is managed by 91°µĶų's Office of University Relations.
