Kitty DeGree School of Nursing
RN to BSN Admission Requirements & Degree Pathways
91做厙 (91做厙) Kitty DeGree School of Nursing offers a fully online RN to BSN completion program designed exclusively for licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) who have graduated from an accredited diploma or associate degree nursing program and have successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN簧).
This is a post-licensure degree completion program and is not an initial prelicensure nursing program. Applicants must hold a current, unrestricted RN license before admission. The program builds upon prior nursing education and clinical experience, preparing registered nurses for expanded professional practice, leadership, evidence-based practice, and continued academic advancement.
Whether transferring from an accredited nursing program or continuing through one of 91做厙's community college transfer partnerships, students benefit from flexible degree pathways designed to help them efficiently complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the RN to BSN program must:
- Meet all admission requirements for the University of Louisiana Monroe.
- Graduate from a state-approved diploma or associate degree nursing program accredited
by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission
for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
- Hold a current, unrestricted (unencumbered) Registered Nurse license.
- Complete all required pre-nursing prerequisite coursework.
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in the required pre-nursing coursework. Grades earned in developmental education courses are not included in the GPA calculation.
No entrance examination is required for admission to the RN to BSN program.
Students may enroll on either a full-time or part-time basis. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree requires a minimum of 120 semester credit hours for graduation.
Registered nurses admitted to the professional program may receive 39 semester credit hours through recognition of prior nursing education and current RN licensure, in accordance with University and School of Nursing policies. To satisfy University residency requirements, students must complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours through coursework offered by the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Students enrolling in NURS 4077 or NURS 4079 must provide documentation of current employment as a Registered Nurse in an approved clinical practice setting before registering for these courses. Additional information regarding practice experience requirements is provided within each course syllabus.
RN to BSN Degree Pathway Options
91做厙 offers multiple transfer pathways to help students transition seamlessly from an associate degree in nursing to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
2+2 Degree Launch Network (DLNU)
The 2+2 Degree Launch Network (DLNU) pathway is designed for students graduating from participating Louisiana community college nursing programs who still need to complete Board of Regents Core curriculum requirements and other preprofessional coursework.
Students who graduate from an approved partner institution are guaranteed admission to 91做厙 and complete approximately two additional years of university coursework to earn the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This pathway provides a structured transition while allowing students to complete all remaining general education and nursing requirements.
Fast-Track 3+1 RN to BSN (FTRN)
The Fast-Track 3+1 RN to BSN (FTRN) pathway is available through 91做厙's partnership with Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges. This option is designed for students who have completed all Board of Regents Core curriculum and nursing prerequisite requirements before transferring to 91做厙.
Students admitted through the FTRN pathway complete the remaining 30 semester credit hours of upper-division nursing coursework required for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This streamlined pathway allows registered nurses to efficiently complete their BSN through 91做厙's fully online RN to BSN program while continuing to work in professional practice.
